There are thousands of acres of open space in Santa Cruz County on the table including the Nisene Marks State Park, Henry Cowell, Wilder/Gray Whale, UCSC, DeLaveaga and the Coast Dairies property. MBOSC is your stongest voice for more multi-use trails in these areas and to make that voice stronger, we need to work together to build MBOSC's membership and fight against those who don't want multi-use trails in your parks.

It is time to stop complaining about losing access to trails and do something about the expanding more multi-use trails in Santa Cruz County! Please join MBOSC and get involved with our efforts. Consider volunteering some of their time to fill these needed positions. These jobs don't take much of your time and can be fun and extremely rewarding.

  • Soquel/Aptos Trailwork Coordinator/Advocates: Do you ride often in Nisene Marks SP or the Soquel State Demonstration Forest? MBOSC needs to expand our trailwork and advocacy efforts to develop new multi-use trails in these areas in the future. Individuals are needed to attend trail policy meetings and work with land managers to plan trail work events.

  • Schwag Coordinator/Bike Shop Liaison(s): Do you spend a lot of time in bike shops each month? We need an interested individual or individuals who could periodically visit area bike shops to inform them of MBOSC's trailwork events and request swag for volunteers.

  • Club Ride/Trip Coordinator: There are many fantastic trails throughout SC County and California to ride on! In addition to our Saturday rides in Wilder Ranch, we need someone interested in leading rides and coordinating trips.

  • Trail Information Station Coordinator and Volunteers: Meeting other riders on the trails is a great way to tell others about trail access issues and give out information about upcoming trail closures and trail policy meetings. This is a very easy task, just hang out and talk to trail users about access issues.

  • Writers: Do you like to write about fun biking trips or races? Do you have useful tips about mountain biking for other riders? We can always use content for the web site.

  • Graphic Artists: Are you creative? Do you like to create cool graphics? MBOSC can always use people for designing graphics for posters, jerseys and membership swag.

Please contact Mark at president AT mbosc DOT org if you want to be more involved in MBOSC and help with any of our ongoing projects.
