Time: 10:00 am
We would like to welcome beginner or slower mountain bikers on our monthly slow ride every 4th Saturday of the month. This ride will be at a more leisurely pace. We may not cover as many miles but it will be a beginner friendly ride. There will probably be an intermediate/advanced group for the regulars and fast people as well. The slow ride is beginner friendly but does require fitness and controlled off-road bike handling skills. at 10:00 am - Ride @ WilderRide @ Wilder
Time: 10:00 am
We meet every Saturday at 10am, weather permitting, for a ride starting at Wilder Ranch State Park. at 10:00 am

IMBA Trail Care Crew Coming to Santa Cruz!
February 14th, 2011
The Subaru/International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) Trail Care Crew is coming to Santa Cruz. This expert team of trail builders will join Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz (MBOSC) to teach sustainable trail building in Wilder Ranch State Park.
The Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew will be in Santa Cruz to talk trails, teach people proper trail building technique and spend quality time digging in the dirt. The visit is one of about 70 stops on the 2011 schedule. You are invited to attend the Trail Building School on Saturday, March 26, 2011, 9am-5pm.
The award-winning Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew program includes two full-time, professional teams of trail experts who travel North America year-round, leading IMBA Trail Building Schools, meeting with government officials and land managers and working with IMBA-affiliated groups to improve local mountain biking opportunities. Since its debut in 1997, the program has inspired great volunteer trail work across the U.S. and abroad—a big help to government agencies and land managers who have limited funding for trail construction and upkeep. As a direct result, there are now thousands of new and improved trails in all 50 states, Canada, Mexico and several European countries.
The Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew will devote their time and experience to Wilder Ranch State Park. At Trail Building School, you will learn in classroom instruction how to build lasting trails that require minimal maintenance, and then apply your new knowledge by building trail features for existing trails that reduce trail damage, protect the environment and enhance visitor enjoyment. Working side by side with land managers, and fellow outdoor enthusiasts, you will see how you can positively impact our community. Be a part of what makes Santa Cruz unique—roll up your sleeves and come get dirty with us. MBOSC will provide lunch and join us at Seabright Brewery for celebratory drinks & dinner at the end of the day.
The Crews travel in new Subaru Outbacks provided by Subaru of America. The company has been IMBA’s leading sponsor since 1997.

Wilder Ranch Sign Ceremony
September 20th, 2010For years a battered, mainly unreadable sign marked the entrance to the backcountry trails at Wilder Ranch State Park. Visitors are now greeted by a beautiful panel that includes a large map and a lot of useful information about the area. On September 18th, about forty mountain bikers, state parks and “Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks” staff, and other community members met up to dedicate the sign and celebrate a successful partnership!
The mountain biking community was proud to donate $3,500 towards the design and construction of this new sign. A big thanks to State Parks Interpreter Elizabeth Hammack for managing the process and to ”Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks” for contributing the remaining funds and helping with the design.
Thank you all once again for supporting our fundraisers. Your donations help improve mountain biking facilities in Santa Cruz County.

New Wilder Ranch Sign Installed
July 27th, 2010Back in September MBOSC raised funds to pay for a new trail head sign at Wilder Ranch State Park. The mountain biking community was proud to donate $3,500 towards the design and construction of a new interpretive sign and map. I’m happy to announce that it was installed on July 19th and the results are stunning.
The sign is important to the mountain biking community and Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz. We start our all inclusive weekly Saturday ride at this sign and it’s a great way to orient visitors to the park. Our local State Parks are suffering from difficult budgetary times and there is a backlog of maintenance projects. Mountain bikers enjoy and support our park system so we are happy to help in any way that we can.

Your Donations at Work: Wilder Ranch Trailhead Sign
April 27th, 2010Back in September MBOSC held a showing of Freedom Riders to raise funds to pay for a new trail head sign at Wilder Ranch State Park. The mountain biking community was proud to donate $3,500 towards the design and construction of this interpretive sign.
The sign is important to the mountain biking community and mountain bikers of Santa Cruz. We start our all inclusive weekly Saturday ride at this sign and it’s a great way to orient visitors to the park. The old sign didn’t reflect the current status of the trails or the park boundaries. Also, this new sign was falling apart and was an embarrassment. It was not up to the high standards of a California State Park.
We are happy to preview one of the latest layout for the new sign. This was a collaborative process which involved many members of the State Parks and interpretive community. One of the pending changes is to replace the road biker and child with renderings of mountain bikers. We hope that the sign will be installed by the end of May.
Thank you all once again for supporting our fundraisers. Your donations help improve mountain biking facilities in Santa Cruz County.
