Over the last 19 years MBoSC has focused on building a better mountain biking community in Santa Cruz County.
With a professional staff, a team of dedicated volunteers and the support of local businesses, land managers, community members and the bike industry we’ve built trails in Wilder Ranch State Park, Soquel Demonstration State Forest, and Pogonip including the wildly successful Emma McCrary and Flow Trails.
In addition to building trails we have hosted some fantastic events! The Santa Cruz Mountain BIke Festival, Santa Cruz Super Enduro, and the Old Cabin Classic have brought our community together year in and year out.
We’re working closely with our partners on the development of a new 30+ mile trail network at San Vicente Redwoods, the planning process at Cotoni-Coast Dairies, finding a home for a local bike park, bringing more bike facilities to South County and expanding trail access in City and State Parks!
Below is an overview of MBoSC projects from 2016-2017 including trail and pump track maintenance programs, exciting mountain bike races and events. Read on to learn how MBoSC will further mountain biking in Santa Cruz over the next year.
This fall and winter we are organizing ten volunteer work days to tune up our local trails. Each dig day is sponsored by a local business and hosted by Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz. Coffee, breakfast snacks, lunch and post event refreshments will be provided for all volunteers.

Old Cabin Classic
The Old Cabin Classic is Santa Cruz’s premier mountain biking event! This cross country race takes place at Wilder Ranch State Park. The race offers up a festival like vibe and features a vendor expo area complete with beer garden, kids rodeo, local artist showcase, and gourmet food!
The race is being held as a benefit for Wilder Ranch State Park, proceeds will go directly into a fund earmarked for trail development.
The Old Cabin Classic came about as the result of an increased level of cooperation between MBoSC and California State Parks. These two organizations have been working together to improve trail access in Wilder Ranch, starting with the Enchanted Loop re-route and restoration project in 2015/16, and we hope to continue this partnership to build and improve trails in the coming years.
Save the Date: Saturday, May 13th.
Volunteer Opportunities: Great events require great effort. Please consider a volunteer position to support the 2016 Old Cabin Classic. Visit http://www.mbosc.org/support/volunteer/ for more information about MBoSC’s volunteer program.
