Saturday May 3′s Santa Cruz Bicycles-sponsored volunteer effort marked the last sponsored work event for the season. Unfortunately, soil moisture is quickly becoming inadequate for trail construction, as California is experiencing the driest year in recorded state history. The good news is that we’ve been given the green light to open both completed segments—FOX-adopted 3 and Epicenter Cycling-adopted 5—on Sunday, June 1 (stay tuned for details to be announced soon)! We’re eager to see how the completed segments hold up to high summer use and winter weather; final design of the remaining four segments will be determined by the success of these first two segments.
Over the break in digging, we’ll be working hard to raise the additional funding needed to complete the project and organizing volunteer forces for when construction resumes. We will also be revitalizing our web presence and adding more information on our unique trail locale, Soquel Demonstration State Forest and its various uses as a “demonstration” forest. We welcome volunteers year-round, so if you’d like to be involved with Demo Flow Trail communications, volunteer coordination and/or fundraising, please email email@example.com.
You MUST register for an event to volunteer. Details about each event can be found on the registration form.
