SDSF Flow Trail Opening Reminders

We’re expecting a big turnout for this Sunday’s opening of the Soquel Demonstration State Forest flow trail’s completed segments 3 & 5, sponsored by FOX and Epicenter Cycling respectively.

Some last minute info:

  • MBoSC strives to make our events as green as possible, so we strongly encourage you to bring your own re-usable plates, utensils and cups.

  • PLEASE carpool or catch a shuttle up from Aptos with Shuttle Smith Adventures. In addition to being better for the environment, it’ll be less hassle for y’all as parking is going to be tight. Dave with Shuttle Smith is offering a ride up from Epicenter’s Aptos store for $20 and still has a few spots open on the 9:30am shuttle. The next shuttle is 11:30am which would get you up there after the 11am opening ceremony but with plenty of time to ride the flow and catch some of the tailgate shindig.

  • Don’t forget, there’s a joint club ride between MBoSC and San Jose Mountain Biking preceding the 1pm opening ceremony. This ride leaves at 9:15am from the SDSF parking area. We’ll do a warm-up ride on Corral, then head down Hihns and up Tractor to the opening ceremony.

  • The flow trail is beginner friendly but requires fitness to get there. From the SDSF parking area off Highland Way, expect a 4 mile ride to the ceremony location and a 3/4 mile climb to the top of the first open segment, with a 4 mile climb back out to the parking lot.

Special note to volunteers: As a special thanks for your incredible contribution to this project (226 volunteers chipped in over 2400 hours in these past few months!), we’re holding a volunteer appreciation raffle at 2pm, including prizes from FOX, Epicenter Cycling and Shuttle Smith Adventures. You don’t have to be present to win, but we do hope you can make it to celebrate this milestone with us.

Hope to see you there.
