Pogonip Trail Update

Just a quick update on the progress of the new trail in Pogonip.

After the 20 volunteers we had on Saturday and the 9 volunteers last night we have contributed 1802.5 hours of volunteer work to the construction of the trail – amazing! We had a great workday on Saturday and have almost completed the initial finish work on the southern section of the trail. I want to thank Verve Coffee Roasters for providing breakfast goodies and some really good coffee. I also want to thank Kristina Hanson for providing pizza for our volunteers (and joining us for trailwork both Saturday and Wednesday!). Kristina is a real estate broker and you can reach her at kristina.hanson@cruresidential.com if you have any real estate needs.

We have two Wednesday evening work sessions remaining. We meet at 5:30pm at the Pogonip Ranger Station (access from Golf Club Drive). Now that it gets dark early, we are going to try and head out to the trail no later than 5:40. If you are running late, just head down the trail from the Lower Meadow intersection and you will find us.

There is no trailwork scheduled for October, the next workday will be Saturday, November 10th. Hopefully we will get a bit of rain by then to get the dust down and start getting the trail compacted. We plan to have at least 2 workdays a month through the winter, and I will be working on the trail a couple of days a week starting in November. I will provide more information once November rolls around if you’d like to come out and work during the day this winter.

We are still raising money for the trail. Click here if you’d like to make a donation.

Finally, some pictures from the past couple of weeks.
