The First Monterey Bay Outdoor Youth Day Festival

Working the booth at the Monterey Bay Youth Outdoor Festival Last Saturday MBOSC and Trips for Kids Santa Cruz had a booth at the first Monterey Bay Youth Outdoor Day. The goal of MBYOD is simple: “We want today’s youth to be exposed to all the outdoor adventures and activities available for their enjoyment.” We agree with that goal and were proud to participate in the event.

The focus of our booth was to tell kids and parents about mountain biking in Santa Cruz County. We also discussed our objectives of providing at-risk or disadvantaged kids positive outdoor activities – like mountain biking – as an alternative to boredom or crime.

We partnered with The Bicycle Trip to bring the 2Hip BMX show to the fairgrounds – which was a huge hit with the kids and festival goers.

We would like to thank Elyse DeStout for her leadership and vision for putting on the festival. It was very well run considering that this is the first one. We thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the festival and will gladly be a part of it next year.

Another report of the first Monterey Bay Outdoor Youth Festival can be found at Santa Cruz Patch.
